PEACE II Project

The Association successfully received funding from Community Foundation for Northern Ireland for an 18 month community development and capacity building project. The development worker, works primarily with the committee of Carleton Street through the "Protestant Engagement in Portadown" project and then with the 30 orange lodges, both rural and urban within the Greater District of Portadown. This project ensures that at least 5 community groups under the auspices of the Orange Order, affiliate to Carleton Street to take part in an extensive community development initiative. Training includes committee skills, event management, performance management, child protection, first aid training, etc. The project also tries to encourage people within the wider "Orange Family" to take part in community events such as Ulster Scots concerts, fun days, courses, etc. This project will end 30th August 2008 and new funding has been applied to the Big Lottery and PEACE III for further developments in the Portadown area.
